Mortals ventured to the rooftop occasionally, he assumed, to fix the heaters, but he bet none of them sat and admired the view. Like the top of the hospital where he sat. So many destinations remained off limits because of their inability to fly. The mortals lived such a boring existence. More like a few extra cars on the road at the same time. ![]() Not that this town really had rush hour traffic. ![]() Loud enough they drowned out the cars bustling in the peak evening traffic. To his right, the oversized heating units hummed in the background. Then, this world would welcome its newest set of immortals. In another week or so, those white caps would become a permanent fixture. The clouds thickened and grew darker, preparing for a fresh batch. This time of year, the dustings of white powdery snow melted and disappeared around lunch time before returning overnight. Seven stories up, he had a view of the entire town, plus the dark, jagged mountain range in the far distance. Blaine swung his legs over the edge of the concrete building, staring down at the glittery lights of the city. ![]()
